Deck, Transom, Covering Boards & Coaming

With the deck frame complete, a sub-deck of 1/2" marine plywood was glued and screwed to the beams and faired.  Next the covering boards were laid out and glued down around the perimeter. Inside the covering boards, the finished deck planking will be 1/4" thick cypress, sprung to the sheer, glued to the plywood, and varnished.  The coamings are a continuous lamination of cherry, and the individual veneers required steam bending to conform to the tight radius aft.  Once glued up, shaped, and finish sanded, the coaming assembly was removed for varnish and will later be permanently installed after the final layer of decking goes down.
